1908-1966Nacido en Nueva York, fue boxeador en su juventud. Escritor y director de dramas sociales, se afilia al Partido Comunista en los anos 30. En su condicion de escritor es contratado por Warner Bros en 1936. Escribe una docena de guiones antes de dirigir Johnny O’Clock en 1947.
